Hitler Promises Reich Authoritative Regime – New York Herald 08/18/1934

Headline: “Hitler Promises Reich Authoritative Regime”
From the New York Herald, Aug 8 1934

While the big events of World War II are well collected, there is less material out there documenting the events in Germany that would bring Hitler to power and set the war in motion. This newspaper documents Hitler’s first speech to the German nation after being made absolute dictator.  In the speech, Hitler promises that his regime will operate under “an unconditional wish to contribute the best of its ability to the preservation of peace of this world”.
